Total

Total’s historical association with Abu Dhabi date back to 1939 and its societal activities in the UAE can be traced back as early as 1966. We are committed to the United Arab Emirates, our host country and we do not limit ourselves only as an energy company. We strive our best to be an integral part of the communities where we operate. With this objective, Total became a Connect Partner of Emirates Foundation in 2006. The year 2015 was a productive year for Total from its societal point of view. 23 initiatives connecting 12 partnerships associating Total, Total E&P UAE, Total ABK and ADCO with a budget of over 5M USD was carried out in the 7 emirates of the UAE. Our aim is to create positive social impacts in 4 key aspects: social inclusion, community engagement, leadership and youth empowerment. With Emirates Foundation, we have the perfect partner to bring together our ambitions to the next level. Total has been actively engaging itself in the “Think Science” initiatives of Emirates Foundation. Last year, the Think Science competition attracted more than 640 youth who developed and executed 235 scientific projects intended for community benefits and industrial investments. Our interactive stand was staffed with Total professionals from various scientific fields and Total ABK-VEDC Academy students and generated positive response from both academicians and students who visited the Fair. Total consider this was a platform to encourage talented young people to take an active interest in science from a young age. It is exactly aligned with our objective to support the UAE’s progress and development into a knowledge based economy. Thus, in 2015 Total committed to the realization of 3 winning projects form the Think Science competition which primarily aims to identify innovation in the field of science and technology by students from UAE schools and universities. At the end of the Think Science 2015 competitions, Total sponsored 3 key projects from the finalists to progress them to the next level. They are on Date Energy: A project that converts palm-waste compost into an alternative energy source; Save your Loves Life: A project on thermal heat sensor that ensures the safety of passengers inside the car by automatically opening windows inside the car and third one on Developing Super-hydrophobic Graphene Foam For Oil Spill Cleanup. These are just some of the key initiatives carried out last year. The list is becoming exhaustive in quality and quantity. As a result, there is a high level of awareness of CSR.

Borealis

Emirates Foundation Sustainability Report – Testimonial Mark Garrett Borealis has a long-standing partnership with the Emirates Foundation by way of the Borealis Social Fund, a fund which supports social projects and organisations in the communities in which Borealis operates. Starting in 2014 we stepped up our collaboration. We did so because it is clear that with the Emirates Foundation, we have found a partner who shares a strong commitment to achieving the same goals: a stable and well-functioning society, and a healthy environment in which both individuals and organisations can flourish. The Emirates Foundation understands that an educated citizenry is crucial to maintaining stability for the greater good. All of their programmes and projects for UAE youth play a vital role, because each promotes social inclusion, community engagement, leadership and empowerment in its own way. At Borealis, we feel a special affinity for Emirates Foundation programmes such as “Think Science,” because they are particularly well aligned with our own mission of Value Creation through Innovation. Encouraging talented young people to consider science as a field of study and future career path is an invaluable service to society. But not only are we tapping into a wealth of potential for future innovation in science and industry; we are helping connect and empower young minds. We are developing the science “Ambassadors” of tomorrow who can use their knowledge and analytical thinking skills to come up with solutions for the many pressing global and technological issues facing us. Encouraging a greater sense of social responsibility, striving for excellence, and fostering innovation: these are the shared aims which nourish our partnership with the Emirates Foundation. By investing in people, we are investing in our future. This principle is manifested in our initiatives to foster entrepreneurship and innovation, education and wellness, and development of society. As such, we have pledged AED1 million over the next two years in support of the philanthropic initiatives of Emirates Foundation, the national foundation of the UAE established to facilitate public-private partnerships for empowering youth, as its Gold Partner. Our collaboration with the initiative started in January 2017 and will run through to December 2018. This initiative is in line with our overall sustainability and business objectives to support the UAE community and to empower its youth and development initiatives. Occidental Petroleum Corporation

Occidental Petroleum Corporation is an international oil and gas exploration and production company and one of the largest U.S. oil and gas companies, based on equity market capitalization. We have operated in the Middle East for more than 40 years. At Occidental, social responsibility is fundamental to our success and reputation as a Partner of Choice®. We are committed to providing safe, healthy, and secure workplaces; protecting the environment; maintaining high ethical standards; upholding and promoting human rights; and respecting cultural norms everywhere we operate. In Abu Dhabi, Occidental is partnering with Mubadala in Dolphin Energy, which supplies natural gas produced and processed in Qatar to markets in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. We are also partners with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) on Al Hosn Gas for the development of the Shah Gas Field in Abu Dhabi. Throughout our worldwide operations, Occidental supports professional development, mentoring and educational programs. In this regard, Occidental’s philosophy is very much in keeping with the mission and focus of the Emirates Foundation to inspire, empower and guide the youth of the UAE. To help achieve the Emirates Foundation’s strategic objectives, Occidental became a partner providing financial and non-financial support. For example, Occidental’s volunteers participated in the “Takatof” program encouraging Emirati youth to engage in community work and to explain the benefits of giving back to their society and country. To demonstrate the company’s commitment, volunteers have renovated homes of underprivileged families in Abu Dhabi, made Iftar meals, and distributed Ramadan kits for workers at the fishermen’s port area. We also support the “Think Science” fair to promote science education. Occidental staff members were on the judging committee that selected the winners from a pool of hundreds of students and projects from across the country. The company recently became involved with the Emirates Foundation Youth Mentoring Platform, a new initiative aimed at motivating Emirati youth through knowledge sharing with senior community mentors who have made positive contributions to UAE society. Occidental is proud to support the Emirates Foundation, and we look forward to continuing to develop this partnership for the successful future of the Emirati youth. Vicki A.
